Let me tell you...
By Mz Rida of MzRidaisback
Can we talk for a minute? I live a rural town in Northern North Carolina where the air is clean and the people are the most friendly folks on the planet. I love it here but it took some time to adjust. I'm a Big City girl who recently relocated to this state. There were so many things that I had to change within 60 days, and number one was to test all over again for a new driver's license. Mercy! I was almost had a panic attack from the thought of retesting because it has been over 30 years since I had to do such a thing. Well with this information in hand, I pulled up the North Carolina DMV site and studied the material online. This was simple, and the next morning I took the test. I'm such a perfectionist because I missed two (2) questions out of 20 multiple choices questions and answers. Over 30 years of driving I should have gotten all the questions right! In order for me to go shopping in a mall, I have to drive exactly 28 miles to Durham, NC, 20 miles to Danville, VA, or 34 miles to Burlington, NC. In my town there is only a Super Walmart, assorted boutiques, (2)Food Lion supermarkets, and an array of family owned restaurants with the specialty in Southern cuisine. The next thing I had to get used to living here is the fact that everyone passes my front door, and go to the back door. I normally get the three knocks and if the door is unlocked...Well, You have instant company! I learnt to lock my doors! After living in a big city all my life where you're just another face in fact this place is quite different. This is a small town, so you guessed it...Everyone knows everyone! That goes from your great grandma on your daddy's side down to when your child lost their first tooth. Since I'm a newbie here folks immediately welcomed me to the town, and several neighbors hand carried "Red Velvet cake, Fruit punch cake, to name a few to my ...You got it....Back door! It I had eBay at that time, I would have made a killing! I love it here now with the open space (3) three acres. My dog has so much yard to run and play until sometimes I think it frightens him. In the early morning hours I love to look at my bedroom window and see a family of deers crossing my yard, or watch the raccoons try to tip over my garbage can, or the ground hog that has eaten my cabbage patch. I say, "It's worth it! Peace of mind, clean air, friendly people, less congestion of people, and no noise. I also love to turn on my television and watch the advertisement blog about this little country town crime. It's slap your knee laughable. Here's an example: Three local teens were caught "Cow tipping!" hmmmm! Another man was arrested for public drunkeness by trying to enter his neighbor's garage. Remember it's dark in the woods, so the neighbor called the police. Once the police arrived they immediately recognize him and escorted him to the right house. I hope you enjoyed reading about my little town. |
