I never thought I would see this day...

By Mz Rida of MzRidaisback

Me and my mother shared an intimate conversation over the phone as she laid in her hospital bed. She said to me, "Baby, I thought I would never see this day!" The time was 2:01 a.m Wednesday November 5, 2008. We laughed and cried of this truly historical event. An African American has won the hearts of millions, and especially the President of one of the richest nations of the world. The United States of American.

Mom and I took a walk down memory lane. Those were not the days! After several minutes of tears, laughter, and that three letter word, "I LOVE YOU" we ended our daily call.
After hanging up the phone, I sat staring at the television with joy for I thought I would never see the day. About 30 minutes, I decided to head to bed myself. In the latter part of the morning the news networks will recap of the whole nights events.

My phone was ringing off the hook. On the other end was my oldest child screaming is hysteria. She kept saying, "She's gone, Mama, She's gone!" I had to collect myself, and figure out what she was talking about. My daughter calmed herself down to the point to explain to me that my mom had past away at 4:15 a.m Wednesday, November 5th.

When you lose a parent it seems like you become numb to the world! One part of psyche was saying it was a bad dream, and the other was in total disbelief. My best friend, teacher, doctor, psychologist, minister, and most of all mother has departed this earthly realm.

I found myself a quiet place to quietly mourn, but her words ringed in my ears of her saying, "I Never Thought I Would See This Day!"

My prayers are with you and your family at the loss of your mother. She lived to see an African American elected by the people to the highest office in the land. It is truly a blessing and it is time for this world to see some things that have never been seen before.

Today we can be encouraged to feel motivated by the inspiration of our new President. If he can do this, anything is possible!! Be encouraged by the good that is happening today.

I can totally relate to being broke and unemployed. I was fired and although it is a blessing, I am still challenged with making money. I am blessed to have faith and all of my needs are met.
